Mirela Salkić: Friendship

In life everyone will meet many people that say that they are your friend, but you will make only a few true friends. What is a friend? In the dictionary a friend is defined as one that is not hostile, or one attached to another  by affection or esteem, a favored companion. In my opinion a friend is much more than that. A friend is some one that will stand by you, even during the toughest times. To me friendship is about believing in your friends and helping them to achieve all they can or want to do in life. We are there for each other with hugs, advice, kind words, fights, and anger, whatever comes along. When the day ends, we are still friends who have each other no matter what happens. We all have a desire to have friends. It is what makes us reach out of our shells and take the chance of being hurt. It is not easy figuring out who is a friend and who is not. I believe Kassandra, to be a true friend. We meet in high school and have known each other for five years. Kassandra and I have been through many good and hard times together. In addition, we have experienced so many adventures together, such as traveling to Italy and the Caribbean where we shared so many enjoyable adventures. Our friendship has done nothing but grows and continues to do so. We are currently indulging in another adventure by living together in New York, and are going to be attending New York University in September. I consider Kassandra to be a true friend. A true friend is there for you when you need them. To have a true friend is a remarkable thing. To find someone that shares similar interests, who cares about whom you are and what you are doing. A true friend is there for you when you need them. Someone who you are not embarrassed to cry in front of, who you can tell the deepest darkest secrets to and know they will be safe. An old rule of thumb is that a true friend is someone you can call after months or ever years and speak as if not a day had passed. Kassandra and I have experienced this, we were parted from each other for about a year and half while she was away at her first year university and I moved back to Victoria B.C. to spend some time with my mom. Once we came in contact again with each other to attend university it was as though we never skipped a beat. True friendships come along so rarely, and I am so thankful to have met her that we must move past anything that threatens them and see the big picture. Without our friendships, we are indeed lost. Whatever happens, we should always keep our true friends close to our heart. Tell them how much they mean to you. Do not let them slip away. If they do, go out and get them back. The bonds we make during these days will serve to keep us going in the months and years ahead.  Also, one more thing is a really important!

Love is the beautiful feeling that expresses honesty, affection and at the same time friendship. Around the world people are concerned about solutions for many of social problems. The feeling of love could be the key for many of those problems. Although, some people do not believe that it is possible. Problems that include world hungry and violence are some example of social matters that love could solve.

The most important reason why love could help to solve the hungry problem around the world is the fact that love ties people together in a way to help each other. First of all, feelings such as, caring about others and helping each other are also included in love. Besides, someone moved by that magic feeling is more likely to do little actions that today’s are being more and more rare. For example, to join a non-governmental institute that helps people with hungry or even feeding someone who need food is a simple attitude that this feeling incentives people to do. Secondly, the spirit of sharing is not very common now days. In fact, people tend to be more selfish and care less about others. However, love flourishes that feeling and makes people more likely to share what they have. For instance, sharing half a lunch with someone who do not have or even giving a piece of a fruit are attitudes that people moved by love often do. Therefore, love encourages people to help solving social problems, as hungry, which is just by us and we don’t realize.

Another important social matter that love could help to solve is violence. It is undeniable that the first thing associated with love is peace. First, that fantastic feeling attaches people around with a peaceful sentiment. For example, starting a fight or thinking of taking someone’s life is a thought that do not exist when ones is contagious by love. Currently, the world is moved by ambition, revenge and meanness. Usually when you read or watch some news the first headlight that appears is about war, murder or people being killed and there is no place to be safe. As an example, a 20 years old student has been killed in Alberta, Canada by a lost bullet two months ago. Actions like that are avoided when love surrounds people’s lives.

In conclusion, Love is the answer for most of the world question. It is a necessary feeling in life because it is wonderful and magic. Also, it keeps people together in a way that they can help and care about each other!
